Position Overview

As a Procurement intern, you will have the opportunity to work on and provide leadership on many exciting projects such as developing and implementing sourcing strategies, interfacing with product supply and category teams to deliver cost savings, and gathering and analyzing data for supplier negotiations.  Our professionals work closely with our internal customers around the world to ensure we meet their quality, cost, and delivery objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with warehouse organization.
  • Learn material types and applications.
  • Assist with receiving and distribution of materials.
  • Introduction to Solar major materials.
  • Contact vendors/suppliers and request material updates.
  • Communicate to the project team the shipping status for major materials.
  • Attending project meetings.
  • Assist with the procurement of electrical materials.
  • Updating and closing purchase orders.
  • Assist with catalog enrichment.
  • Update the company purchase order tracker.
  • Learn specific Accounting and general business principles throughout the internship.
  • Learn subcontractor administration and site purchasing.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Currently enrolled in a qualified educational program through a college or university.
  • Prior exposure to an ERP (electronic resource planning) system.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical materials.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, or manipulate objects.
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • See well (naturally or with correction).
  • Eye-hand coordination.
  • Good physical fitness.
  • Good sense of balance.
  • Use a computer approximately 4-5 hours per day.
  • Be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
