Position Overview

Radiance Solar is searching for a driven, enthusiastic apprentice/intern to join our team. This position will train under the supervision of experienced and trained solar installation professionals and will assist in such things as routine operation of driving piles, the mechanical installation of solar racking systems and panels in an outdoor environment and ensuring that installation work meets the established standards set by the Company and the client.  

To be successful as an apprentice or intern, you must have great time management skills and be willing to fit into the existing workforce structure. Outstanding apprentices and interns are those who respond well to constructive criticism, build good relationships with colleagues, and ultimately make a lasting impression to the Company as a whole.

Key Responsibilities

  • Train under the supervision of current solar installation professionals on such things as pile driving and the mechanical installation of solar racking systems and panels.
  • Track your time worked to satisfy the 2,000 hours per year on-the-job training requirement.
  • Attend monthly classroom training and track your training hours to satisfy the apprenticeship 180 hours per year of related classroom instruction requirement.
  • Conduct site maintenance daily, wearing all required safety equipment/PPE to install and inspect solar racking and panels.
  • Review project plans and drawing to ensure the project is built according to design.
  • Inspect work, report, and document findings, and create quality measurements and testing.
  • Ensure all PPE, tools and equipment assigned are accounted for, maintained in good condition, repaired, or replaced as required.
  • Attend weekly safety meetings.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must have a current driver’s license and other certification if required by OSHA, state, or federal regulations.
  • Ability to travel away from home for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work well with others.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle to travel from job site to job site.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Age 18+.
  • Proven commitment to safety and teamwork.
  • Read, write, and communicate using English language sufficient to perform job functions (other preferences will be given for special language skills where there is a business need.

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements for this role could include any of the following:

  • Stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects.
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Be able to see well (naturally or with correction).
  • Have good eye-hand coordination.
  • Have good physical fitness.
  • Have good sense of balance.
  • If applicable, be able to work at great heights.
